Our Mission

The New England Transportation Institute (NETI) is one of two divisions of NETIM - the New England Transportation Institute and Museum . NETIM is a 501 c(3) not-for-profit organization which was incorporated in White River Junction, Vermont in the year 2000.

Several professionals in the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire developed a vision and mission statement for the Institute. They drew on their regional and national connections to develop a set of programs and collaborative efforts to further that mission. Over the first five years, the effort grew to include several national research activities, an active collborative program with the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute and a seminar series on regional rural transportation issues co-sponsored by the Univeristy of Vermont and Vermont Agency of Transportation.

In 2005, the Insitute was awarded a 5-year research grant through the federal surface transportation reauthorization. This funding is being used to augment the Institute's regional and national research activities.
